Amanda Walker-Jackson

CLTI Co-Teacher

Amanda Walker-Jackson is an educator, advocate, and community leader who believes that every child deserves to be seen, valued, and given an opportunity to thrive. With 25 years of experience in education, including more than two decades in early childhood education, Amanda has served children and families as a teacher, program director, and community leader. She currently teaches third grade at Crossroads Quality Hill in Kansas City.

A proud Kansas City native and first-generation college graduate, Amanda holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Her research explores how historical narratives shape perceptions of Black students and how Black educators challenge and reframe those narratives.

Amanda’s teaching philosophy is grounded in relationships, equity, and the belief that students bring valuable knowledge and experiences into the classroom. She strives to create a learning environment where children feel safe to ask questions, embrace challenges, and recognize their own strengths. She believes education should empower students to use their voices, take ownership of their learning, and see themselves as capable of making a difference.

As a graduate of the 2024 Parent Leadership Training Institute of Kansas City, a PLTI-KC board member, and a co-teacher for the Children’s Leadership Training Institute, Amanda is passionate about helping children and families recognize their power to create change in their communities.

Amanda believes in living each day as though it may be her last while planning and working for the generations to come. She carries this belief into her classroom, her advocacy, and her commitment to building a better future for children and families.
